Summer has finally arrived in Montreal and it’s time to go out and enjoy it!

Here are 3 hikes less than 2 hours from Montreal that are dog friendly, so you don’t have to leave the pup at home while you go explore!

View of Lake of Two Mountains in Oka National Park

Oka National Park: This hike is perfect for families and beginners. It still allows you to access a beautiful point of view, but does not have a steep climb. Please note that dogs are only accepted on the following trails: L’Érablière, Calvaire d’Oka and Le Sommet. Bring your lunch and enjoy the beautiful view at the top for a picnic!

The view at the top of the black mountain, a classic in winter as in summer!

The Black Mountain: In the Lanaudière region is the Black Mountain, a 13 km hike that offers not only magnificent views, but also vestiges of another era. Indeed, in 1943, a military plane crashed into the mountain. The remains of the plane are still there as well as a small cemetery which has been laid out for the people who died in the crash. A slightly out of the ordinary hike that awaits you and your pup!

Note from Katrina: Chien Nomade is a camping and hiking blog created by our very own Audrée! She travels around Québec and Eastern Canada (so far) showcasing many of the dog friendly spots that she has enjoyed with her dog Enzo. In hopes that other dog owners can reap the benefits of these beautiful places and bring their four legged friend(s) along with them!
